Detective Credential Renewal Requirements

The renewal process may be initiated 15 days prior to the expiration of the credential, following the renewal scheme below according to the level and type of investigation:

• Renewal every 1 year for detectives of Class 07, 06, and 05.
• Renewal every 2 years for detectives of Class 04.
• Renewal every 3 years for detectives of Class 03.
• Renewal every 4 years for detectives of Class 02.
• Renewal every 5 years for detectives of Class 01.

The renewal has a cost of 15 dollars, which represents the administrative expenses for searching, reviewing, and verifying the information provided.

Required Documents

The following documents must be submitted:

• Detective Identification Number.
• Updated photo DIFFERENT from the one submitted during the initial credential issuance process, consisting of photos of both sides of your national identity document or a photo of your passport.
• Residential address including house/apartment number, City, and Country.
• A digital photo of your face (passport-style), including shoulders, with a solid color background (white recommended). It is advisable that the detective be formally dressed in the photo. This photo must be updated and DIFFERENT from the one submitted during the initial credential issuance process.
• A utility bill from the last 3 months (electricity, water, telephone, or internet) under your name. If unavailable, a family member’s utility bill may be submitted (the family relationship must be demonstrated).
• A digital exit permit from the country or a digital certificate of no criminal record. The document must be updated within the last 3 months.
• A frontal photo showing the detective’s face alongside the passport or national identity document. This photo must be updated and DIFFERENT from the one submitted during the initial credential issuance process.
• Signed Disclaimer of Liability regarding misuse or scanning, with a copy of the national identity document attached below the signature.
• Submission of the detective’s geolocation twice at randomized times. The detective will be required to send their location on two occasions to verify the authenticity of the home address. The process will not proceed until verification is completed. If there is doubt, falsification, or suspicion of tampering with the location, one or more live video transmissions may be requested for verification.
